K2 Cycle Race

The K2 is the toughest one day cycle challenge in the Southern Hemisphere. It is also one of the most scenic and varied. Every year the event starts in a different Coromandel Peninsula town, circumnavigating the Peninsula. There are a range of different options for various abilities, with the full 200km solo race probably the toughest one day road cycle race in the Southern hemisphere! There are three races, the 200km K2, the 100km Pearl Izumi K1 and the 50km 1/4 K race. The Cranleigh K2 is also one of the most scenic and varied races with the route traveling through sub tropical forest, pacific coastlines, rural farmland and the Pohutukawa coastline of the Hauraki Gulf.

Tairua Food & Wine Festival

A huge celebration of food, wine, arts and crafts. The Tairua Wine and Food festival is a ritual amongst holidaymakers in the Tairua and Pauanui area. Over 10,000 people flock to the festival each year.

A huge array of food stalls, wine, beer, entertainment and of course stacks of arts and crafts stalls.

The event is the major fundraiser of the year for picturesque Tairua School - which sits on the Tairua Harbour and has a roll of just under 100 students - and is run completely by parents and kind local volunteers.

Beach Hop

Beach Hop is home of New Zealand’s BIGGEST celebration of the 50’s & 60’s.
